The cattledog is an optimal agilitydog! It is fast, agile and smooth plus has fast reactions. A lot of these qualities come from its origin as a herding breed. The breed is also fearless and has an excellent jumping technique. Hopefully more people in Sweden will acknowlege the cattledog as an excellent agilitydog, just like abroad.
Baily
Baily and I attended our first agilityclass in springtime 2006. The idea was to get activated but we were both hooked! We started competing in 2007 as we attended out first course in agility for competitors. Since then we regularly attend a training group under the supervision of two great instructors, Linda and Magnus Andkvist.
Baily loves agility and she attacks everything that comes in her way. She tried to do it herself in the beginning but now we have established a good teamwork. It paid of in September 2007 when we got out first clear round in jumpclass. Later that autumn we got our first clear round in agilityclass and also won the class!
Our goal was to be approved for class 2 in 2008 but due to injury we weren’t been able to compete. This spring we took our last stick in jumpklass and were approved for class 2. This summer an intense competitionseason follows. Our hope is to take the last two sticks in agilityclass and also get some clear rounds in class 2.
Demi
Demi started her agility training at about 6 months. We have koncentrated on tunnels, slalom and just sending forward. We aren't doing any jumps, she just has to run in between the jumps. In the beginning of March we stated our first course, Baby basic. We are focusing on basic handling, slalom and contact zones without actually jumptraining.
Demi is showing great potential and at the first class we combined two jumps and a bent tunnel. She loves it and growles at the tunnel when she runs through! We will continue the training slowly and we won't compete until she is ready. I want handling, contact zones an slalom to work before.
